The following is an Editorial Resource from YourTotalHealth. What's more allergenic, male or female trees? “Seedless” or “male” varieties of trees and shrubs are a bad idea if you suffer from outdoor allergies. These varieties tend to produce more highly allergenic pollen than their female counterparts. If you do include any of these plants in your garden, make sure you plant them away from doors, windows and high-traffic areas of your yard. You should also note that shade trees, especially hardwoods, are highly allergenic and should be avoided as well. Many of these trees bloom before their leaves grow in, allowing the wind to pick up and carry their pollen. Learn more: Sneeze-Free Gardening. |
