Can I vacuum up animal dander?

Your vacuum may be able to remove some animal dander, but there's a good chance it won't be able to get all of it. But, let's first make sure we're talking about the same thing: Animal dander refers to the dead skin cells an animal sheds, not the hair or fur. So when you're ready to vacuum up pet allergens, focus on the dust where the dander accumulates. The problem is, most conventional vacuum cleaners don't have a filter capable of capturing all of the tiny little dander particles. The solution? A HEPA filter. These special filters are capable of capturing 99.97 percent of allergen particles. A vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter will make sure any dander you suck up stays sucked up.
