Can a Hysterectomy Steal Sex Drive?By: Question : My wife had hysterectomy due to a recurring, excessive yeast infection. Her ovaries were not removed, and are said to be working fine by local doctors. The problem is that she has no sex drive, or little at best. The doctors say nothing is wrong and will not give her hormone shots or anything. This is causing a serious problem, because I am still as sexually active as ever. Prior to the operation, our sex life was fantastic and had been for about 10 years. Answer : My advice is to find another doctor. First of all, performing a hysterectomy sounds a little radical for recurring yeast infections, so perhaps there is more to it. Or perhaps the operation did something to prevent the hormones created by the ovaries from entering her system. Whatever the case, have another doctor give his opinion. If they both agree that there is no physical cause for her sudden lack of sex drive, then I would consult with a psychologist to see if the operation caused a mental block of some kind.
