Check It Out: Coca-Cola ZeroYou love the classics. You're still trying to copy Audrey Hepburn's classic look from Breakfast at Tiffany's, and whether it's the Beatles or Led Zeppelin, there's clearly some classic rock rounding out your music collection. What you don't love? Calories. Especially those of the nonfilling, liquid variety. Luckily, Coca-Cola understands your need for classic taste without calories. In case you live under a rock or have just given up hope of ever finding a diet soda without a diet taste, we're talking about Coca-Cola Zero. The soft drink giant launched the calorie-free, carb-free and just-about-everything-else-free soda in June. Coke Zero tastes surprisingly like Coca-Cola Classic but doesn't come with the 140-calorie baggage the regular stuff has in one 12-ounce can. Apparently, the taste is similar because Coke Zero was based on the original Coke formula, whereas Diet Coke was created using a totally separate recipe. If you really want to know what's in Coke Zero and aren't afraid of big words, here you go: The newer product is sweetened with both aspartame and acesulfame potassium. Diet Coke is sweetened only with aspartame. Whatever acesulfame potassium is, we like it! Not as much as we like the Classic, of course, but we're willing to compromise if it means no calories. Just be careful if you go hunting for Coke Zero ‑- it'll probably be nestled between Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda and Coke C2. It seems as though the cola company is on a launching spree lately. page 1 of 2 | Next Page
