Check It Out: Island Breeze by Bacardi

By: Lindsey Unterberger

Guys, for the most part, can get away with a bit of a beer belly. It's not that we like it, but if he meets all of the other requisite characteristics (decent job, good smile, sane) we generally overlook the extra pounds collecting around his waistline.

Such is not the case for us girls. A double standard? Of course, but what isn't? So skip the beer and move on to something a little less juvenile and with a lot fewer calories. Bacardi's new "Original Lite Spirit," Island Breeze has half the calories of regular wine and cocktails. Each of the three flavors (Wild Berry, Coconut and Key Lime) has 48 calories per 1.5-ounce serving. And at 18 percent alcohol by volume, this spirit is anything but girly.

Plus the juice-box-like flavor makes it tasty enough to drink straight from the bottle... just like one of the guys.

But for the more refined, Bacardi has made it easy to mix up a yummy cocktail of your choice with these simple recipes ‑- perfect whether you like your Breeze straight up or on the rocks.
