How to Not Eat All of Your Halloween Leftovers

I got an empty sandwich baggy, and each time I have a piece of candy, I put the wrapper in the bag. It's playing mind games I guess, but it helps me remember what I have already had (not to mention checking the points for the candy). —stephanieki2004

I'm not going to lie. It has been pretty darn tough for me to stay away from the Reese's... My best advice is to buy a new dress and every time you are about to go for the candy, think of how good you'll look in your new dress if you stay away. lalaaaa

My kids hide their candy in their rooms so it's not in my face. cl-jpen2000

At the end of [Halloween] night, we put a big bowl with the remaining candy on the porch with the light on, and less than 20 minutes later it was all gone! —shannon426

I hid a lot of the chocolate, and candy and I am planning to get it out around Thanksgiving and Christmas, to decorate cupcakes, cookies and a gingerbread house. —momx2boys

Don't give out candy. Give out small loot bag treats or dollar store toys instead. somerandomthoughts

Last year I bought way too much candy and ended up eating Twizzlers and Snickers for weeks on end. This year, I am buying one bag of Smarties. When it's gone, I am going to stop answering my door! I'll be cleaning eggs and toilet paper off the yard, but it's worth it! —alikaratekid

I put my leftover candy bars in the freezer. When they're frozen, it's harder to eat 10 in a sitting! —looloo12

My brilliant solution: Give away candy you don't like. For me, that's Mounds bars. I can't stand them, so there's no chance I'll binge on them once the kids have stopped ringing the bell! —dougsmom

I bring my family's extra goodies to my mother's friends at the senior center. Somehow, getting a little candy on Halloween reminds everyone of their childhood and puts a smile on everyone's face. —dominiquecat

I give out small boxes of raisins and packages of chewing gum. It's kind of hard to overdo it with those! —nancepants

My husband hates candy (go figure!), so he's in charge of holding on to it for the rest of us. My kids and I hand it over to him and he does a great job of distributing it back to us in small amounts during the weeks after Halloween! —georgiegrrrl

I take extra candy and quickly wrap it up in pretty Christmas baskets for my family. Once I go to the trouble of wrapping it all, I wont be tempted to dig in and eat it. —elisabeth1972

I just throw away anything left in my baskets at the end of the night. It may be a little wasteful, but I remind myself how much money I'll save in the long run. By keeping my tendency to binge in check, I'll never have to spend my hard earned money on a commercial weight loss program! —chicagomama

I'll give my candy to the neighbors, to my coworkers, to my brother's kids — anything to get it out of my house. —helenoftoledo

The day after Halloween, I pile all of our extra treats into the car and drive them to our local homeless shelter. My kids even donate a few of their goodies. It feels great and the shelter really appreciates it. —angi2323
