My Family Isn't Supportive

Question :

I am trying hard to eat right but my kids and my husband hate the healthy foods I cook. My husband says it's selfish of me to expect the whole family to diet. I am never going to lose weight if I have to keep cooking the foods they want. What should I do?

Answer :

Why are you giving your family permission to derail your weight management efforts? Just because they clamor for unhealthy stuff doesn't mean you have to throw in the towel. Also, how are you cooking the "healthy" foods? It's entirely possible to cook healthy meals that taste great and don't even seem that healthy. I think there's a middle ground somewhere in your family that would involve compromise and would urge you to talk openly about the matter with your husband. Try focusing on health instead of weight loss, because health is everybody's business.
