The Apple PolishersWorking as a health-care professional doesn't always mean you follow your own advice. I am a registered professional nurse working as a nurse educator in a community hospital in the New York metropolitan area. I am one of a team of 10 nurse educators who have decided to join the Community Challenge in order to practice what we preach. As health educators, we always stress the importance of proper nutrition and the need for exercise and fitness in every person's life. Unfortunately, not all of us follow these wise words in our own lives. Our ages range from 35 to 56, and our specialties include medical/surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, critical care, maternal child health and emergency nursing. Some of us are married, some have small children, others have grown children and, still others of us are single without children.
Although our individual fitness and weight loss goals vary, we are united in two common goals: We all want to eat healthier and in moderation and establish a fitness plan that we can stick to three to five times a week. We also want to provide motivation and support for each other throughout the six weeks of the challenge. We will be there for each other during the difficult, frustrating times as well as enjoy the laughter and excitement of our successes throughout the challenge. Read Lorraine's Blog
