The Naughty Nosher


I've always struggled with my weight. As a child I was known as the chubby girl. Now aged 38, I am ready to face my biggest demon head on and drop the pounds. I live in Agoura Hills, California, and I am the director of administration for a law firm in Beverly Hills. I have been working in the legal field for 21 years. Although dealing with lawyers on a daily basis is a challenge, it's certainly not as challenging as being a woman concerned about her weight.

After I quit smoking four years ago, I completed my first marathon. I also gained about 50 pounds training for it because I ate poorly. I crossed the finish line weighing 225 pounds and developed a hairline fracture in my tibia. Here I am today still fighting the same battle. Although I've lost some weight — I am currently 5'10" and weigh 205 pounds — it's a daily struggle with ups and downs along the way, but the fighter in me keeps pushing forward.

My biggest weakness is willpower. If I myself can get motivated and help at least one other woman who is going through the same weight issues to realize that she's not alone, that would mean the world to me. I have such a difficult time walking away before I reach for something I know I shouldn't eat. I've joined the challenge to help me achieve more self-discipline. I hope that paying more attention to my eating choices and exercise habits will lead me to greater
