Trend Alert: intenSatiBy: When it comes to getting into great shape, our minds can be our biggest obstacle. Negative thoughts creep into our heads, telling us we're tired or out of shape, and zap us of our strength before we even step foot on a treadmill. Sculpting classes tone muscles and increase metabolism, but it's hard to maintain energy and motivation when floor-to-ceiling mirrors and bad lighting invite our critical minds to focus on our saggy butts and nonexistent waistlines. Yoga, on the other hand, is great for quieting our overactive minds and replacing irrational, destructive thoughts with productive gratitude and inspiration, but it rarely offers the intense fat burning many of us want from a workout. Fortunately, a fast track to an amazingly fit body now exists through one energizing, life-transforming workout called intenSati, a choreographed routine of strength, cardio and balance moves that you perform while chanting a series of affirmations that nearly guarantee you will reach your full potential physically and mentally. "Whatever you put your attention on will grow stronger in your life," says Deepak Chopra in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. Negative thoughts make you weak, while positive thoughts make you strong. Since you can't think two thoughts at the same time, intenSati's affirmations "act as a lock or a seal, keeping other words and negativity from seeping into your mind and making you weak," says intenSati creator Patricia Moreno. "If you hold words like power, courage, love, yes, gratitude and appreciation in your mind, your body will go strong." During a typical intenSati class, Moreno leads students through a warrior-lunge-balance sequence while chanting the affirmation "All I need is within me now!" A squat-kick-punch-plié sequence is accompanied by the affirmation "I choose confidence, courage, power, now! I am strong, yes!" Side shuffles, planks and jumps include the exclamation "I believe I will succeed! Every day in a very true way, I cocreate my reality! I am blessed!" Moreno offers intenSati as a culmination of her 22 years of experience teaching everything from dance, martial arts, yoga, total-body sculpting and kickboxing and, most recently, life coaching. New York City is her home base, but she travels the world to fulfill her mission "to empower people to the awareness that we have everything we need to live a life that we love in a body that we love, if we choose." Many intenSati participants have raved about incredible results. Moreno's sister, Denise Ramirez, lost 160 pounds after she began practicing the workout. Numerous other students have dropped pounds, but the results are far greater than just a knockout physique. Many fans describe intenSati as "fast, intense cardio... as exhilarating and exerting as marathon training," "easy on the joints" and providing "feelings of complete empowerment and cardio bliss." This January, Moreno will start her "Miracle Tour," through which she will teach intenSati at various Equinox clubs throughout the country as well as certify other instructors to teach the class. "People come out of intenSati with a different level of empowerment," Moreno says. "They are truly able to create a body and a life that they love."
