Why Do I Eat When I'm Bored?

By:
Jeffrey Wilbert

Question :

When I'm bored, eating is the first thing I think to do. Sometimes I even pass the time at work by planning what I'll eat later. Why do I do this?--iVillager blvmd

Answer :

It sounds like you're running low on pleasurable activities. You need to develop some new hobbies so you don't rely so much on food. But more importantly, you need to understand why you are bored. Boredom can be confused with depression or a lack of fulfillment in your life. It's important to be clear about what you're feeling so that boredom doesn't mask a more important emotional issue that is holding you back from losing weight. My book could be helpful to you in this regard, so maybe you can read it the next time you're bored!
