Yoplait Light & Weight Loss


Dr. Michael Zemel at the University of Tennessee studied 34 obese adults for 12 weeks to find out what happens when you include yogurt in a weight loss diet.1 Each participant was randomly assigned to one of two groups -- one group ate three servings of Yoplait Light each day (high calcium group) while the other group did not (low calcium group). Both groups were instructed to reduce their calorie intake by 500 calories a day.

Over the course of 12 weeks, the Yoplait Light group lost more weight and fat compared to the low calcium group. They also retained more muscle and lost inches off their waist.

Yogurt eaters lost an average of:

  • 22% more body weight
  • 61% more body fat
  • 81% more fat from the mid-section
