Question of the Week

Is it ok for your gynecologist to repair your bladder with a sling?

Rebecca Rogers, M.D

Sling procedures are one of the gold standard surgeries for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. Many different kinds of practitioners are qualified to perform these procedures including gynecologists, urologists and urogynecologists. I might suggest asking how commonly your provider does these procedures; doctors who do more of these procedures have better outcomes than those who perform then rarely.
