Healthy Holiday Treats

By: Sue Gilbert

Holidays, parties and food, food, food! What may be treats for you could mean disaster for your body. Avoid those dreaded seven extra pounds that spell New Year's depression: Instead of gorging on all the holiday foods, try to be selective. Save your indulging for those few special foods that you look forward to all year.

When it's your turn to have the party, give your guests a real treat: a dinner of healthy food full of flavor, not fat and calories. If you're going to the party, offer to bring a light appetizer or dessert. Below is a healthy dinner party menu with recipes that highlight the best flavors of the season without depending on loads of decadent ingredients. You'll also find a few recipes for low-fat treats you can offer to take when you're the guest.
