Heart Health: What's Causing Chronic Pain after Heart Attacks and Stent Procedure?

By:
Kelly Shanahan

Question :

I've had two heart attacks. I now have three stents in the left main artery of my heart. I hurt all the time, and I'm tired. My chest, my leg, my hands all hurt. The doctor said the stents would stop the pain. Is it all in my head? I wasn't like this before the heart attacks and the stents. What's wrong with me?

--Cindy

Answer :

You should see a cardiologist, soon. You may be showing signs of a weakened, poorly functioning heart due to the damage caused by the heart attacks. Your stents may be getting blocked. You may have a blood clot impairing blood flow to your leg and hands. This must be evaluated and treated appropriately. DO NOT ignore your symptoms!
