How can I find a dietitian in my area?

By:
Sue Gilbert

Question :

Dear Sue:

How can I find a certified nutritionist or dietitian in my area? My daughter is unhappy with her weight and would like to see a dietitian. Thank you for any information you have.
Sharyn

Answer :

Dear Sharyn:
You may first wish to consult your family doctor for a recommendation, particularly if you trust him or her and are happy with his or her previous recommendations. I think the recommendation of a trusted professional is the most economical and most comfortable way to go. If you don't have a trusted resource for referral, however, the American Dietetic Association has a Website (www.eatright.org) on which registered dietitians may post their names and area of expertise.

Thanks for writing, and good luck to you and your daughter.

Sincerely,

Sue Gilbert, M.S., Nutritionist
