Is He Allergic to Me?

By:
Ruth Westheimer

Question :

Please help! During sex, my husband's penis gets raw. We've tried lubricants (various brands) and this only happens occasionally. Is it possible to become allergic to your partner's body fluids after 11 years of marriage? Also, his pubic hair grows about one inch down his penis and is uncomfortable during penetration. Is there a way to remove it? (He won't hear of waxing it.) This is too embarrassing for us to ask our doctor about, and we need help!

Answer :

Why is it so embarrassing? If you've been married for 11 years, then your doctor expects that you're having sex. In fact, it would be more embarrassing if you weren't having sex! But if you don't want to go to your personal physician, find a urologist -- a doctor who specializes in all things related to the male organs. Such a doctor sees people with various problems all day long so you're less likely to be embarrassed. I can't guess why your husband's penis is getting raw, but it can't be pleasant, so you absolutely should consult with a physician.

As far as his hair is concerned, there are people who shave their pubic hair, and I never heard of it causing any problems, so I suppose that's one alternative to waxing.
