Journal Exercise: Setting Personal GoalsBy: Debora Orrick "Writing crystallizes thought," my old friend used to tell me. "If you write your goals, your brain will know what you want, and it will start to filter the environment for their fulfillment." On three separate sheets of paper, brainstorm three lists: (1) Your Goals for Your Personal Health, (2) Your Goals for Your Professional/Business/School Life, and (3) Your Goals for Your Personal/Family Lifestyle. Remember that these lists are brainstorming exercises. There are no limitations on what you can set as your goals during this exercise. I am always surprised by the power of "coincidence" working in my life, and how many of my "unrealistic" goals are realized thanks to unexpected sources. In fact, when your taskmaster voice tries to get you to think that something is too unrealistic for your goal list, just tell yourself that the opportunity will come from "an unexpected source." Then look for life to surprise you!
