Pregnancy: No Morning Sickness

By:
Kelly Shanahan

Question :

I am 16 weeks pregnant. I have had two sonograms that were both normal. But I have had no morning sickness. Does this mean something is wrong?

-- Necole

Answer :

Not at all! Not every woman experiences morning sickness, or bloating, or constipation, or varicose veins, or breast tenderness, or hemorrhoids or anything else. We are all unique, and so are our pregnancy experiences. Because of this, you cannot compare yourself to friends, neighbors or coworkers. Also, even women who have been pregnant before may have very different experiences the next time around.

Consider yourself lucky for not having had morning sickness. If you remain lucky, you also will not have hemorrhoids, backaches or heartburn. What is important is that you are getting good prenatal care, that the baby is growing well, that your weight gain is appropriate and that all your tests are normal. If you are really lucky, you will not have hemorrhoids, backaches or heartburn.
