Symptoms of overdose can be similar to the medication’s side effects, but are usually more severe. In the case of seizure medications, there are several warning signs that may indicate a patient’s medication level is becoming toxic to them.

Patients exhibiting any of these signs or symptoms should contact their physician immediately:

• Prolonged fever
• Rash
• Severe sore throat
• Mouth ulcers
• Easy bruising
• Pinpoint bleeding
• Weakness
• Excessive fatigue
• Swollen glands
• Lack of appetite
• Increased seizures
• Dizziness
• Poor balance
• Confusion
