Swimming during a Period

By:

Question :

I've been swimming for a pretty long time. Now I'm training for a tournament, and I don't want to miss swimming because of my period. Some other girls told me that I can still get into the pool because it stops when in the water. Is that correct? Is there any way I can swim?

Answer :

Menstrual bleeding does not stop in water. The best thing to do to be able to continue swimming while on your period is to use a tampon. This is very effective at preventing leakage of blood -- just put a fresh tampon in before you get into the pool and change it after you get out.
