Thyroid Disorders & Male Fertility

Question :

My boyfriend had most of his thyroid gland removed due to a tumor and is currently taking Synthroid. Does the removal increase the chances that he may be infertile?

Answer :

Either an overactive or underactive thyroid gland can interfere with both male and female fertility. However, if your boyfriend is taking the proper amount of thyroid replacement hormone, there should be no effect on his fertility.
