Unpleasant Vaginal OdorBy:
My ex-boyfriend told me that my sex has an unpleasant odor, and that I am the only woman he has encountered with this problem. I have noticed that I do have a strong odor from time to time, but he said it was all the time. This affected me to the point that I couldn't relax to enjoy sex anymore. I tried showering twice a day and after sex, and eating more fruits and vegetables. I was tested for STDs and ruled that out. Is there anything I can do? Even though we broke up, this has stuck with me and makes me fearful of new encounters.

Vaginal odor can be caused by non-sexually transmitted infections such as gardnerella (bacterial vaginosis). This is actually the most common vaginal infection and usually produces a discharge with a fishy odor. It can be easily diagnosed by examining vaginal discharge under a microscope or by doing a culture. Treatment is easy and effective.
Some women react to a man's sperm, and an odor after sex is the result. Using latex condoms may help in this case.
Sometimes odor is due to the abundant sweat glands in the groin. An antibacterial soap may be helpful if this is the case.
