Was It a Miscarriage?

Question :

I think I may have had a miscarriage about a year ago. I never went to a doctor about it because I had just lost my virginity and I was afraid. All I know is that I lost a lot of blood and something that looked like a bunch of skin came out. How would I know if that was a miscarriage? What are the symptoms of a miscarriage?

L.

Answer :

Symptoms of miscarriage depend on how far along the pregnancy is. Very early on, it may be nothing more than a slightly late, slightly heavy period. Later, there may be more bleeding, with passage of clots, accompanied by significant cramping. Even later still, there may be a recognizable fetus passed with the clots. It is impossible a year later to tell for sure what happened.
