Your 60s: Six Best Health Tips -- from Women Who've Been There

Do the best you can and try not to dwell on the past, because what is done is done. Enjoy today and look forward to tomorrow. --iVillage member

My tips are to drink seven glasses of water, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, avoid meat and cut down on eggs. I exercise at home by doing stretching and some tai chi for a total of 40 minutes. --iVillage member, 73

Medic alert tags are great for ER visits, but there are times when the information is easier to give if you have it handy. A typewritten paper is in my purse at all times -- with an added copy "hidden" within my wallet. It lists every medication, dose, doctor, disease or other important health issue I have. I even added that I use dentures! This list has helped my doctors and myself as well as whoever is with me when I need medical attention. I update it on a regular basis. Even if you think you may not need it now, one day you may. Keep it in mind! --Pat

My mother, who lived to the age of 88 years, always said vinegar is good for anything on your body. You can rinse your hair in vinegar water to give it an extra shine or bring out the red color. Putting vinegar in your bathwater can help cut down on yeast infections or give you that clean, fresh feeling with your morning bath or shower. Vinegar will help keep athlete's foot in check, and Mom said it's even good for your skin! Some elderly people even believe that swallowing a couple of spoons of vinegar every day purifies the body and helps you live longer. I can't attest to that, but one man I heard about is in his 80s and takes no medicine of any kind and still lives an active life! --Judy
